Tankers that pick up Kazakh oil at the offshore terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) near Novorossiysk began to indicate that they had come for cargoes for Western oil companies. So they are obviously warning the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which on January 13 attacked two tankers of Greek companies in the Black Sea, which worked in the interests of American and Kazakh companies.
Tankers that take oil from Russia's terminals in the Black Sea continue to observe precautionary measures due to the threat of attack by Ukrainian unmanned boats. Most of the vessels still do not go straight, but go around the sea along the shores of Turkey. At the same time, European tankers continue to be defended in the south-east of the Black Sea before loading Kazakh oil at the CPC terminal near Novorossiysk.
At the same time, the vessels began to use a new form of warning. According to the AIS of ships, they transmit information not only about the destination, but also the customer of the cargo.
So, Energy Delos registered in Greece's Minsheng Qizhi Tianjin reports that it will pick up the cargo for American Chevron. The same is reported by Delta Commander under the control of the Greek Delta Tankers. But the T.Semehat tanker of the Turkish Bakirkoy Tankercilik indicates that it will take oil for the Dutch-British Shell, which has a charter at the CPC marine terminal.
Obviously, the shipowners want to prevent possible attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, similar to those that occurred on January 13. Then the Ukrainian drones hit two tankers of Greek shipowners, Delta Harmony and Matilda, who came to the Black Sea for shipments of Kazakh oil for KazMunayGas and American Chevron.
However, experts believe that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were well aware of whose interests could be hit on January 13, since the lion's share of Kazakh oil coming through the CPC belongs to Western companies. And most of it is American Chevron, which participates in two of the three megaprojects in Kazakhstan and controls the largest Tengiz project by 50%.
"It is quite possible that Ukraine is deliberately hitting the interests of American companies in this way so that they complain to Trump, and Trump, as a result, took this factor into account in his dialogue with Ukraine and was more supportive of Ukrainian conditions," noted Igor Yushkov, a leading analyst at FNEB.
As EADaily reported, it is not the first time that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked the export of Kazakh oil, which belongs to Western companies. In the beginning, drones hit oil pumping stations in Russia. In November of this year, drones hit the remote berthing device (VPU) at the CPC terminal near Novorossiysk and seriously limited the ability of tankers to load.
The Minister of Energy of the republic Yerlan Akkenzhenov estimated that during the operation at a reduced capacity, the terminal did not send 3.8 million tons of oil, which are now worth more than $ 1.7 billion on the market.
