Russian military bloggers are growing perplexed about the situation in Kupyansk

After today's statement by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov about the situation in Kupyansk, military bloggers and telegram channels receiving information from direct participants in the fighting express bewilderment, or simply do not comment. Others insist that the information is, to put it mildly, contradictory.

So, the Belarusian Silovik TC called Gerasimov's statement about the liberation of Kupyansk-Uzlovoye, where, according to the chief of the General Staff, "there is an inspection and cleaning of city blocks," "simply enchanting."

"Footage from the network suggests that our FPV operators beat the enemy's equipment in the same place. A mystery," the author writes.

He further explains:

"In order not to offend the feelings of some highly respected generals, I will explain very carefully on Kupyansk-Nodal. Kupyansk-Uzlovaya is circled in red. The settlements, which, to put it mildly, are not entirely under our control, are underlined in blue. The bold BLACK (not red) line is the border to which there is a visual confirmation of the control of the APU."

Another well—known in the Russian blogosphere TC "Two Majors" noted the day before that in the south of the Kupyansk direction "it is possible to gradually stabilize the situation in the area of "borrowed" villages on our bank of the Oskol, in Kupyansk itself there are heavy battles." The Rybar TV channel also writes that "fighting continues in Kupyansk. On the eastern shore of Oskol, there are reports of fighting in the area of Sandy and Kurilovka."

As EADaily reported, on January 16, Colonel-General Sergei Kuzovlev, commander of the Zapad grouping, reported to Defense Minister Andrei Belousov the situation in the Kupyansk area.

"In December, the group's troops liberated six settlements — Kucherovka, Podoli, Kurilovka, Novoplatonovka, Boguslavka, Dibrova and more than 155 square kilometers of territories."
"In general, I understand that Kupyansk is now in the mopping-up mode?" — Belousov asked the commander a question.

Kuzovlev clarified that "all areas of the city are under the control of Russian troops, despite unsuccessful attempts by the enemy to break into Kupyansk."
