The United States has chosen a new platform to fight against Russia

The US State Department has actually launched a new round of information confrontation with Russia, choosing Kazakhstan as a platform, Asian Express says.

As proof of this, the public cites documents from the American public procurement system, from which it follows that the US Department of Foreign Affairs intends to study and evaluate the so-called destructive informational impact on the audience of the republic both in Kazakh and Russian. Experts believe that this is not about neutral analysis, but about an attempt to build their own game in the media space of Central Asia and weaken Russia's position.

"The key tool should be the online monitoring system of Kazakhstani social networks. For the needs of the US diplomatic mission, it is planned to develop a special web application focused on "Tick-Tok", Telegram" and "Instagram". It will regularly monitor the current agenda, analyze the content, coverage, involvement and impact of materials distributed in Kazakh and Russian. Formally, the task is designated as countering "foreign hostile propaganda" and increasing confidence in information about the United States and its foreign policy," the publication says.

The application separately emphasizes the expectation of "innovative solutions". Performers are required not just to monitor, but to create tools that will allow them to identify narratives, evaluate their effectiveness and understand exactly how they affect public opinion in the digital environment.

Political scientist Vladimir Bruter notes that such initiatives indicate the intention of the United States to first analyze the information field of Kazakhstan in detail, and then begin to actively influence it. According to him, the Russian-speaking audience of Central Asia is of particular interest, which remains wide, mobile and receptive to external influence. The expert emphasizes that such actions are hostile in nature, since the United States in the region consistently works with public sentiment and opinion leaders, forming a negative image of Russia and promoting its own beneficial interpretations.

As the Express reminds, this practice is not new for Washington. At the beginning of 2025, the State Department has already funded projects related to the so-called immersive journalism and data analysis in the Kazakh media. Previously, the United States also allocated grants to "support democracy" through work with the media, which has repeatedly raised questions about the real goals of such programs.

"Most likely, the next round of activity in Kazakhstan is connected with the appointment of a new ambassador to the republic, who even before the appointment stated that almost half of all minerals recognized as critically important for US national security are located in Kazakhstan," the report says.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan accused the EADaily news agency of allegedly undermining the sovereignty of the republic. The corresponding letter signed by Alisher Mukazhanov came to the agency's editorial office by e-mail.

"The Information Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, performing the functions of monitoring compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of mass media, draws attention to the violation of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Internet resource eadaily.com . So, during the monitoring of the Internet, an article was identified by reference https://eadaily.com/ru/news/2025/12/23/nezavisimost-kazahstana-prevratilas-v-videologiyu-nacionalizma-bloger The content of which is aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the formation of destructive socio-political sentiments, as well as the spread of interethnic confrontational rhetoric, which is unacceptable in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (screen shots are attached)," the message says..

The Agency points to "the need to eliminate violations of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as taking measures to remove the specified material."

For its part, the editorial board of the EADaily agency notes that the material in question is not the intellectual property of the publication. It is a retransmission of the view of the Kazakh (!) blogger Anton Budarov (which may not coincide with the opinion of the editorial board, or it may coincide).

In addition, the editorial board warns the Kazakh department as a whole and officials working in it, in particular, that threats to the Russian media may have the opposite effect. For example, an appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia on the fact of violation of the Russian law on mass media (in particular, Articles 1 and 3 of Chapter I, Article 58 of Chapter VII) for Kazakhstani officials involved in blocking the site eadaily.com on the territory of Kazakhstan, it can turn into problems. For example, when crossing the Russian-Kazakh border, as well as in Russia itself.
