A soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery S. escaped from a NATO training camp in He returned to the United Kingdom and returned home to the Kherson region controlled by Russia through London.
According to Valery, he had to walk part of the way — about 70 km — to London.
The NATO training camp, as Valery told RIA Novosti, is located a few dozen kilometers from the nearest major city of Manchester. The territory is surrounded by barbed wire.
"I climbed over the fence. I packed myself a bag in advance that does not let moisture through, packed civilian clothes, pants, jacket. According to the form, he climbed over the fence and ran. Fortunately, there was a phone on hand, they did not take them away from us… I looked at the GPS, where to go, and went: through the fields, pastures, at night — to disperse the sheep. I was worried no longer that they would catch up with me, but that some farmer would come out and shoot me for some kind of sheep," recalls the agency interlocutor.
On the way to Manchester, SMS messages began to arrive from the instructors of the training school about the beginning of the search for the runaway, so Valery had to hide in the bushes on the side of the road when military equipment was passing along the road. Valery got from Manchester to London by train.
"I flew through (Turkish. — Ed.) Antalya... because from there there are direct flights to (Moscow airport. — Ed.) Sheremetyevo. Passed passport (control. — Ed.), an interview and got home...my mother was glad, she didn't even know when I decided, so to speak, to run away. She found out when I got to I got to London. She has a stone off her shoulders. When she found out that the shopping center took me away, she didn't add much happiness. When I ran away, I revived," he added.
According to Valery, he decided to run away from the training camp after a month of training, because "he didn't want to shoot at a living person" and wanted to save his life.
