A unit of American special forces in November landed in the Indian Ocean on a cargo ship, which followed from China in Iran and confiscated his cargo.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to American officials. It is alleged that the confiscated cargo was intended for use in the military-industrial complex of Iran, including the development of missile systems.

The article clarifies that the incident occurred at a distance of several hundred miles from the coast of Sri Lanka. After the cargo was withdrawn, the vessel was allowed to continue moving.

Agency sources said that the US intelligence services were tracking this shipment, which consisted of dual-use items potentially suitable for use in the Iranian military program, as well as in the rocket and space industry.

"This was a rare interception operation at sea aimed at preventing Tehran from rebuilding its military arsenal," the publication says.

Earlier, EADaily reported that the United States seized a tanker off the coast of Venezuela. President Donald Trump boasted of large volumes of oil, which the Americans, according to him, will keep for themselves.
