The head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, discussed territorial issues and security guarantees for Ukraine within the framework of reaching a peace agreement proposed by the United States with special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. This is reported by Axios, citing sources.
It is noted that the initiator of the conversation, which lasted two hours, was the American side.
"Witkoff and Kushner gathered the opinions of both sides and put pressure on both (Russian President Vladimir) Putin and Zelensky to make the concessions necessary to reach an agreement," the publication says, a fragment of which is quoted by Strana.
According to the source, the discussion of the territorial issue was difficult because "Russia still demands that Ukraine withdraw its troops from the parts of Donbass controlled by it, but the United States is trying to develop new options to overcome this problem."
Another topic of negotiations with Zelensky was US security guarantees for Ukraine. As one of the sources said, the parties have made significant progress and are closer to an agreement, but additional work is needed to make sure that both sides interpret the draft guarantees in the same way.
It is expected that NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Gnatov, representing Ukraine at the talks in Miami, will return to Europe and discuss US proposals with Zelensky in London.
"We need to collect all the projects and brainstorm," the Ukrainian official said in a comment to Axios.
