Military correspondent Alexander Kotz considered it indicative that the meeting of the American delegation with the Ukrainians, at which the peace plan was discussed, was held at the golf club.
"This seems to hint at the attitude of the US administration towards the Ukrainian authorities, who are up to their ears in corruption," Kots said.
There is a reason, according to the military correspondent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio mentioned at the end of the meeting that he wanted "not just to end the war, but to restore Ukraine so that it would be stronger and more prosperous than ever before."
"Obviously, the Americans want to offer Ukrainians some economic buns (allegedly 10 years without American duties), but they are afraid that the benefits of them will be offset by corruption," Kotse believes
But the main thing is the issue of territories and non—aligned status. And there was clearly no breakthrough, stated Kotz. He cited the words of Rubio, from which he drew this conclusion.
"It's delicate, it's complicated, there are a lot of moving parts here, and obviously there is another side involved here that will have to become part of the equation, and this will continue later this week when Steve Witkoff goes to Moscow, although we have also been in contact with the Russian side to varying degrees, but we have a pretty good understanding their views too. There is still a lot of work to be done," Rubio said.
"At the front, too," Kots commented on the statement of the Secretary of State.
As EADaily reported, the meeting was held today, November 30, at the exclusive golf club of President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff Shell Bay.
The White House wants to resolve disagreements with Ukraine today on two fundamental issues of the peace plan — territories and security guarantees, the Axios publication wrote on the eve of the meeting.
"The Ukrainians know what we expect from them," a senior American official told the publication before the meeting.
