Half of Kiev was left without electricity after the retaliatory strike of the Russian army on power facilities in the Ukrainian capital.
"In Kiev, as a result of strikes on critical infrastructure, there are power outages. The left bank of the capital is without electricity. There are also problems with water supply," Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at night.
Later he added that the power engineers are working on the resumption of power supply, but the situation is complicated.
At about 7.00 on October 10, the damage was confirmed by DTEK.
"Part of the capital was left without electricity. We are already working on restoring power supply — first for critical infrastructure facilities," the energy company said.
"As soon as the security situation allows, the power engineers will assess the extent of the damage in order to return the light to all houses as soon as possible," DTEK added.
As reported by EADaily, the Russian army strikes in response to the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on refineries and power facilities in Russia. As reported by the Ukrainian telegram channel "Resident" on the eve, Moscow unofficially warned the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine that the continuation of attacks on Russian energy facilities would lead to catastrophic consequences for the Ukrainian energy industry.
