The US State Department refused to answer the question whether President Donald Trump requires his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to meet with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, as an indispensable condition for a bilateral summit with the leader of the Russian Federation.
Deputy department speaker Tommy Pigot recommended that the journalist who asked the relevant question at the briefing contact the White House "for details of the schedule" of Trump. He stressed that the United States continues to work closely with European allies and Ukraine.
"Our ultimate goal is to end this conflict, bring the parties to the negotiating table, reach a truce and establish a long and lasting peace," Pigot said, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
As reported by EADaily, Donald Trump will meet with Vladimir Putin only if the Russian president meets with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported by The New York Post, citing a source in the White House.
As reported by EADaily, Russian President Vladimir Putin told media representatives today that, in principle, he was not against meeting with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to discuss a peaceful settlement at the Ukraine. "I have already said repeatedly that I have nothing against it in general, it is possible. But certain conditions must be created for this. Unfortunately, it is still far from creating such conditions," he said.
Vladimir Putin also confirmed today the possibility of meeting with Donald Trump next week and called the United Arab Emirates, with whose leader he had previously held talks, a "suitable place" for them.
