The United States will impose additional duties of 25% on goods from all countries that directly or indirectly purchase Russian oil. This is stated in the presidential decree published by the White House today, August 6.
"If it is established that any country directly or indirectly imports oil from the Russian Federation, recommendations should be submitted to me on whether and to what extent actions should be taken against this country ... including the possibility of imposing an additional duty of 25% on imports of its goods," the document says.
The analysis of the situation was entrusted to the US Department of Commerce in coordination with the State Department, the Ministry of Finance and other structures. The recommendations will be prepared with the participation of presidential advisers on national security, economy and industry.
Prior to that, today Trump signed a decree imposing additional duties of 25% on goods from India, which will take effect in 21 days and will amount to 50% already introduced.
