The United States is ready to lease the Zangezur Corridor connecting Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan exclave for 100 years, the US ambassador to Turkey has said. A large American company can rent a 32-kilometer section at the suggestion of Turkey.
The United States has expressed its readiness to take over the management of the Zangezur corridor, told reporters in In New York, the US Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barrack, reports Middle East Eye.
"Thus, both sides will be able to use this corridor," the ambassador said.
Barrack also noted that the main purpose of the proposal is to promote diplomatic negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Earlier it was reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump proposed to manage the corridor through a private American commercial operator who would act as a neutral guarantor.
