It cannot be ruled out that Russia will launch a new offensive from the territory of Belarus. This was stated at a meeting with journalists by the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.
The offensive, according to him, may occur after the Zapad-2025 joint exercises of the armies of Russia and Belarus scheduled for September.
He noted that a similar offensive scenario had already taken place in February 2022.
Syrsky admitted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lacks reserves, while about 440 thousand contract soldiers joined the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation only in 2024. Today, according to him, the number of Russian groups in Ukraine has reached 695 thousand people.
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not intend to sit on the defensive and will counterattack, the commander-in-chief said.
"The situation in Sumy region has been stabilized, the offensive actions of the Russian Federation have been stopped at the borders of Kondratovka, Andreevka, Yablonovka and Yunakovka," added Syrsky, quoted by Strana.
As reported by EADaily, the number of the Russian army conducting combat operations on Ukraine, reached 695 thousand people. This was announced yesterday at a meeting with journalists by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
"Plus Kursk, Belgorod directions — where they are opposite Kharkov. There are about 52 thousand more in the Sumy direction," Zelensky added, quoted by the Strana newspaper.
