During the fighting against Hezbollah, the IDF used a new laser air defense system. Information about the successful start of the combat use of laser technology in intercepting air targets was declassified by the country's Defense Ministry.

According to the Ministry of Defense, laser systems were actively involved in 2024 in intercepting UAVs and missiles launched from the territory of Lebanon by Hezbollah. With their help, dozens of objects were intercepted.

We are talking about a compact version of the more powerful Iron Beam laser system ("Iron Beam"), which is due to enter service with the IDF this year — both versions were developed by the Israeli defense company Rafael, the telegram channel "Two Majors" writes.
