Kiev has offered the European Union to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine from 2026. This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko at a meeting of the financial bloc of the "Big Seven" in Canada.
"What we offer: the participation of partners in the financing of the Ukrainian armed forces and, accordingly, the integration of the Ukrainian army into the European defense system. The costs of providing the Ukrainian armed forces with European security will be a small share of the EU's GDP," Marchenko said, quoted by Strana.
The costs can be distributed among the countries ready to join the initiative and included in the calculation of defense spending in accordance with the obligations of these countries to NATO, the Ukrainian minister said.
