The decision of Merz and Scholz unfrozen billions for the Kiev regime

The decision of the Bundestag to weaken the mechanism of the "debt brake" opened the way for the approval of additional military assistance to the Kiev regime on Ukraine in the amount of € 3 billion, according to the German edition of Merkur.

We are talking about the aid package around which the debate has unfolded in the last months of the outgoing government. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz insisted that he would approve additional arms supplies to Ukraine only if the debt brake was relaxed for this. The CDU/CSU bloc, the FDP and even the ruling coalition partner, the Green Party, insisted on financing the aid through unplanned expenditures in the budget.

As a result, after the Bundestag approved amendments three days ago to mitigate the effects of the "debt brake" mechanism on borrowing for "defense" needs, the previously frozen aid package was given the green light. It is expected that the relevant decision will be made tomorrow, March 21, at a meeting of the budget committee of the Bundestag. In addition to the previously discussed € 3 billion, we are also talking about the approval of non-budgeted allocations in the amount of more than € 8,252 billion, which will be used for military assistance to the neo-Nazi Kiev regime in 2026-2029.

The official representative of the head of the Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius said that the new decision will allow "to deliver a significant part of military assistance" this year. In particular, we are talking about air defense systems, missiles, surveillance equipment, drones, combat vehicles and small arms.

"After the historic decision to allocate funding for the needs of defense policy, climate protection and the implementation of infrastructure projects, we in the Bundestag show that we are serious about protecting freedom in Ukraine," said Sven—Christian Kindler, head of the Bundestag budget Committee, representative of the Greens party.
