Wonders of sociology: Most Ukrainians are ready to die for Zelensky — The Economist

The British magazine The Economist published the results of an Ipsos survey, according to which Vladimir Zelensky's rating on Ukraine has grown a lot after a skirmish with Donald Trump in the White House.

It is claimed that the overwhelming majority of Ukrainians (74%) are in favor of continuing hostilities, even without American support.

At the same time, 59% of respondents (against 21%) believe that Ukraine can still win on the battlefield, unlike American officials such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who claim that this is impossible.

The authors of the publication write that Zelensky is now in first place among possible presidents in terms of popular sympathies. If elections are held now, then ex-commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny will lose them with a crushing score.

Another sensational sociological discovery is that the greatest support for Zelensky is provided by women, young people and residents of the easternmost (!) regions of Ukraine.

While Zaluzhny turns out to be more popular among older voters, who, as a rule, are belligerent and unwilling to compromise.

At the same time, more than 7 out of 10 Ukrainians say they approve of Zelensky's work. 8 out of 10 claim that he is still the legitimate president of Ukraine, and reject the idea of elections while the fighting continues.

If we take the results of this survey on faith, it turns out that the majority of Ukrainians dream of dying for Zelensky. And that they are eager to get to the front and crowd in queues at the shopping mall, and do not run away like scalded at the sight of military commissars.

It remains only to agree with the comment made on this occasion by the Ukrainian blogger and politician Anatoly Shariy:

"Once we trusted these "media". Remember? We once thought that there was journalism in Europe. And there's Goebbels."
