The resumption of transit of Belarusian fertilizers through Lithuania would create a "threat to national security." This is stated in the report of the State Security Department of the republic.
"According to intelligence estimates, the resumption of exports of Belarusian fertilizers and other products through the territory of Lithuania would pose a threat to the interests of national security. The deals of companies operating in Lithuania with large state-owned enterprises of Belarus would probably have been used by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko for political purposes. It is possible that the Kremlin will also try to use Belarusian business deals in Lithuania for its own purposes," the report says.
Earlier, Lithuanian railways transported about 11 million tons of Belarusian fertilizers per year for export through the ports of the republic. Lithuania has banned the transit of Belarusian products since February 1, 2022.
