Oil supplies to the Czech Republic via the Druzhba pipeline stopped due to problems with payments that arose due to anti-Russian sanctions from the West. This was reported by Reuters on March 5.
The agency stressed that initially it was unclear why water supplies had stopped the day before. However, according to the Minister of Industry of the Czech Republic Lukas Vlcek, the suspension of supplies was caused by problems with payment between the Polish owner of Czech refineries and Russian suppliers.
One of the sources told Reuters that the latest package of US sanctions led to problems with payments.
At the same time, the refinery is still operating at full capacity, Vlcek said that there is no risk of shortage.
According to him, the country may switch to the modernized TAL pipeline if the termination of supplies via Druzhba turns out to be long-term.
