A Russian cargo plane has crashed in Syria today, on March 6. 26 passengers and 6 crew members were onboard; all of them were killed in the accident, RIA Novosti reports citing a source at the Russian defense ministry.
The crash occurred during landing at the Khmeimim Airport at about 03:00 p.m. Moscow time. The plane fell on the ground failing to reach the runway. A technical failure is cited as a probable cause of the accident.
The defense ministry notes that according to reports from the scene there have been no signs of bombardment. An investigation commission of the defense ministry is to examine all the possible reasons of the crash.
