French President Emmanuel Macron, along with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will take Vladimir Zelensky with them to Washington. This was stated by the official representative of the French government, Sophie Prima, during a briefing.
"It is planned that President Macron will again go to Washington, together with Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Great Britain," the Prima noted, without naming specific dates.
EADaily adds that earlier the British newspaper The Daily Mail, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Macron and Starmer is ready to go with Zelensky next week to Washington. As noted, they want to "speak to [US President Donald] Trump with a united front on the [peace settlement] plan." The visit may take place against the background of attempts to restore relations between the United States and Ukraine after the skirmish between Trump and Zelensky in the White House and the suspension of American military assistance to Kiev.
The British Prime Minister said that London and Paris is preparing a ceasefire plan for Ukraine, which they are going to present to the United States. Macron later revealed some of his details. According to him, the plan provides for a "truce in the air and at sea," as well as a moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure. It is assumed that the partial ceasefire will last one month, and after that it will be possible to deploy European peacekeepers in Ukraine. At the same time, Macron stressed that European countries would send a peacekeeping contingent only if a peace agreement was signed between Moscow and Kiev.
