The Government of Belarus has resigned. The corresponding resolution was signed today, February 3, by the Prime Minister of the republic Roman Golovchenko.
"According to the Constitution, the government has resigned to the newly elected president. The resolution comes into force from the date of its adoption," the press service of the Council of Ministers reported.
At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree "On the powers of the Government of the Republic of Belarus", according to which, "in order to ensure the smooth operation of the executive vertical of power," he instructed the Prime Minister, his deputies, ministers, chairmen of state committees and the head of the Council of Ministers Apparatus "to continue fulfilling their duties until the formation of a new government."
Recall, presidential elections were held in Belarus on January 26. Today, the Central Election Commission of the republic officially approved their results, according to which the incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko won.
