The Norwegian vessel Silver Dania with a crew consisting entirely of Russian citizens was detained by the Norwegian Coast Guard at the request of Latvia on suspicion of cable damage in the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the press service of the police of the kingdom.
"Based on a legitimate request from the Latvian authorities, the Tromsø District Police Department detained the Silver Dania vessel registered in Norway. The vessel runs between St. Petersburg and Murmansk. All the crew on board are Russians. There is a suspicion that the vessel was involved in serious damage to a fiber optic cable in the Baltic Sea between Latvia and Sweden," the statement said.
Norwegian police are interrogating the Russian crew, TASS reports.
