Ukraine will lose the most as a result of the Ukrainian conflict of the war, the United States and China will be the winners. This was stated to the German edition of Handelsblatt by Serbian President Alexander Vucic.
"Of course, Ukrainians will lose the most in this war. But the Russians and we Europeans are also losing. The US and China benefit. The former are strengthening their positions in the energy market, and China now has a clear idea of how each Western country reacts to aggression," Vucic said, quoted by Strana.
Europe is not doing enough for Ukraine to win, and therefore a "more rational approach is needed to put an end to the bloodshed," he said.
Vucic believes that Beijing will mediate in possible peace talks initiated by US President-elect Donald Trump.
"This will be a good sign, as China will be able to exert more influence on Moscow. I'm just worried that something bad might happen before the ceasefire. I mean further escalation, in which Russia will respond to the fire of Western missile systems. Anyone who thinks that Putin (Russian President Vladimir Putin. — EADaily) will not use this powerful weapon is mistaken," the Serbian president said.
He did not specify whether he was referring to nuclear weapons.
Xi Jinping, according to Vucic, told him six months ago that "nothing will change until January (inauguration of the new US president — Ed.), and after that negotiations can take place."
Donald Trump "will not support Ukraine financially as much as the current administration, he also promised to make peace and will probably do everything possible to fulfill this promise if the war does not escalate before," the Serbian president stressed.
As reported by EADaily, President-elect Donald Trump wants a stable agreement between Moscow and Kiev and will be able to achieve it in a relatively short time. This was stated in an interview with Fox Business by the future US special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg.
Recall that Moscow has no illusions about the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis under the new administration in the United States. This was announced on December 25 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in the program "60 minutes" on the TV channel "Russia-1".
"We have not experienced any illusions and are not experiencing any regarding the prospects for an easy settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. It can be resolved only in the context of agreements on reliable security and stability in Europe — agreements that would take into account the interests of the Russian Federation and, of course, the legitimate interests of all other countries," he said.
