American forces have carried out "dozens of targeted airstrikes" on the locations of ISIS militants❶ (Islamic State❶, a group recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia Russia), the Central Command reported The US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) in X.
"During the operation, more than 75 targets were hit using numerous US Air Force assets, including B-52, F-15 and A-10. The damage caused by the battle is currently being assessed. There are no signs of civilian casualties," the publication says.
"The strikes on ISIS leaders, militants and camps❶ were carried out as part of an ongoing mission to undermine, weaken and defeat ISIS❶ in order to prevent the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS ❶ does not try to take advantage of the current situation to rebuild in central Syria," the US military added.
US President Joe Biden had previously announced the threat of the revival of ISIS in Syria against the backdrop of the fall of the regime of Bashar al-Assad. He assured that Washington will continue to fight the group in the region.
The New York Times, citing American and Turkish officials, wrote that the United States was transmitting messages to Syrian rebels through Turkey. Including in the messages there was a call not to involve IG militants in the activities of anti-government forces. According to NYT interlocutors, the rebels also assured through Turkey that they have no such intentions.
