Ukraine is not ready to join NATO, former President Petro Poroshenko said, calling membership in the alliance one of the five "red lines" for Ukraine.
"We have to do our part of the homework, because with what we have now, they don't take us to NATO," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
In total, Poroshenko called five "red lines" against the background of Donald Trump's victory. In addition to joining NATO, this is the absence of compromises on issues of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the lifting of sanctions. The ex-president considers another "red line" to be the impossibility of agreeing to "limit the capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," TASS reports.
Even before the US elections, Trump stated that, having returned to the White House, he could easily end the conflict on Ukraine. At the same time, he did not rule out that Kiev would have to make territorial concessions. Many observers note that Kiev's military support under Trump will be significantly reduced or will cease.
As reported by EADaily, yesterday, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the news of Trump's victory in the US elections, noted that with all the disadvantages, the new head of the White House has one useful quality for Russia: As a businessman, he does not like to spend money on all sorts of hangers-on, including the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky. According to Medvedev, "the green scum in Kiev will be buried in white powder up to its ears."
