Russian soldiers who found themselves after the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region in the deep rear of the Ukrainian army were able to get out of the encirclement two months later. Maxim Andreev, a serviceman, told about this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the Russian military heard the sounds of enemy vehicles approaching the border.

"Then the foreman gave the command "to fight", to disperse to their positions. The whole day we sat and waited, we heard enemy equipment. We were preparing that enemy soldiers would launch an attack now," Andreev said.

After some time, it was reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had broken through the positions of a neighboring platoon. The next day, the foreman gathered the fighters and ordered them to prepare to leave the encirclement.

The servicemen decided to break up into small groups and go out through the forests and fields towards the Russian positions. By that time, the fighters were already in the deep rear of the enemy.

According to Maxim, periodically Russian soldiers found themselves so close to the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants that they could make out what they were saying. For more than two months, the servicemen took refuge in forests and villages. Civilians who found themselves in the territory occupied by the enemy helped the Russian fighters, brought water and food, reported on the location of the Ukrainian military.

It was possible to get out of the encirclement after the rapid advance of the North grouping. The fighters were given all the necessary assistance on the spot, and then evacuated to the rear.
