At the end of September, Uzbek media reported that Komil Allamzhonov, head of the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, was dismissed from his post. According to the telegram channel Colonelcassad, he was actually the third person in the AP and openly pursued US policy in the country.

Komil Allamzhonov was appointed to this position in August 2023 and has since developed a close friendship with the US Ambassador to Uzbekistan, as well as with the president of the Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty media corporation *** Jamie Fly, participating in all meetings with those responsible for promoting the "soft power" of the United States in the post-Soviet space.

In particular, according to Colonelcassad, Allamzhonov had close contacts with US Deputy Secretary of State Uzra Zeya. Specifically, with this graduate of the "hawk's nest" Albright Stonebridge Group (a consulting company working with the Pentagon, the CIA and US defense contractors), he discussed comprehensive support for the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the field of women's rights, media freedom and speech, as well as in strengthening the potential of civil society and non-governmental non-profit organizations (NGOs).

"Allamzhonov spoke with the US Ambassador to the Russian Federation about the promotion of the English language in the republic, the situation with human rights and other humanitarian issues. Uzbekistan by Jonathan Henick. Komil Allamzhonov consulted with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau on a wide range of issues related to the development of the information sphere, mass media, ensuring the openness of government agencies, communication with society, combating fakes and disinformation, as well as improving the media literacy of the population," the telegram channel writes.

The publication clarifies that people are always sent to such meetings on a par, which speaks volumes about the role of the ex-head of the information policy department in promoting Western interests. At the same time, as the authors note, Russian public sites have repeatedly drawn attention to the correlation — shortly after the meetings of the chief media officer with American bigwigs, anti-Russian information campaigns broke out in the local blogosphere and controlled media.

"Another interesting detail is Allamzhonov's participation in the leadership of the Public Fund for the Support and Development of National Mass Media. The foundation's mission is to protect press freedom and train qualified journalists through educational grants and scholarships. At the same time, almost immediately after Allamzhonov joined the foundation, he hired a Washington-based public relations company, Bridgeway Advocacy LLC. The task of the company was to work with Uzbek officials, diplomats and notify the American authorities about the human rights situation in the republic. It is no wonder — whoever pays, receives reports: the maintenance of the fund was provided mainly by foreign grants. They even put an eagle on the foundation's logo, but there are not enough stars and stripes," says Colonelcassad.

In addition, according to the telegram channel, back when he was the head of the Information and Mass Communications Agency under the Presidential Administration (AIMC), Allamzhonov simplified the procedure for accreditation of foreign media in Uzbekistan and restored previously limited access to Western resources such as BBC, Radio Liberty***, Deutsche Welle* and others in 2019. to others.

"They say that Allamzhonov's sudden departure from the AP came as a surprise to many in the government and the presidential administration. The official left not just from his post, but from government agencies. He wanted to change his job so abruptly that there are thoughts about the foresight of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who, it seems, simply removed the toxic official with whom the service of the interests of the West, anti—Russian information campaigns and even the introduction of textbooks developed by USAID into the schools of the republic," concludes Colonelcassad.
