By killing the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Hassan Nasrallah, the Israeli authorities want to provoke Iran to a tough response, but expect it from Tehran is not worth it, international relations expert Movses Gazaryan believes.
"We should hardly expect any harsh reaction from Tehran, if only because Tehran does not currently have weapons of mass destruction. Nuclear weapons. I believe that the Houthis, that is, other pro-Iranian proxies, are most likely to become more active. While official Tehran will not be able to afford any decisive tough steps," Channel Five quotes the political scientist.
Gazaryan is confident that all Iran's actions will be aimed at maintaining security in its own country, taking into account its resource state.
The political scientist believes that it is in the interests of Iranian diplomacy to build some kind of dialogue with Western countries in order to lift sanctions and start developing the Iranian economy. The goal of Israel is to provoke Tehran to very tough measures that Israel could show to the whole West in the right perspective for itself, Gazaryan noted.
