The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reacted with irony to reports of searches of US citizens who cooperate with the Russian media. According to her, all international human rights organizations should angrily condemn this "rollback from democracy."
"What do Reporters Without Borders, UNESCO Director General Madame Azoulay and OSCE commissioners think about this? I hope they will not keep silent. I am sure this shameful fact will be recorded in the State Department's report on the degradation of the situation with human rights and freedom of speech in the United States. We are waiting for an angry rebuke to the American authorities for the rollback from democracy performed by White House press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre," Zakharova wrote.
The only thing missing is the press releases of American embassies around the world threatening to impose sanctions against President Joe Biden, mocks Zakharova.
As reported by EADaily, the New York Times writes that the American authorities have launched a large-scale investigation against their fellow citizens allegedly cooperating with the Russian media. Criminal charges and house searches are being prepared for them.
