WSJ: The United States refused to provide Ukraine with information about the goals in Russia

The United States refuses to provide Ukraine with intelligence on targets in Russia. This was reported on August 17 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) with reference to a high-ranking American official.

According to the source of the publication, in this way the Washington authorities are trying to avoid accusations of involvement in the operation of Ukrainian militants in the Kursk region.

"Washington does not share intelligence with Ukraine about targets inside Russia, adding that the administration of [American President Joe] Biden does not want to be considered that it supports an attack on the territory of the Russian Federation," the publication says.

The newspaper drew attention to the fact that Kiev lacks a sufficient level of support from the United States and its allies to achieve success in an attack on Russian territory.

On August 5, Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said that Washington continues to find out from Kiev the purpose of the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack on the Kursk region. At the same time, Singh added, the United States does not plan to change its tactics to "fully support Ukraine defending itself."

On the same day, the White House coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, said during a briefing that Washington did not know about the intentions and goals of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. He noted that he "cannot and does not want" to talk about Kiev's military operations, as he is incompetent.

Ukrainian troops attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region is recognized as an emergency of a federal nature. The operation to destroy the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues, Izvestia reminds.
