Only the effect of presence — an expert on the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region

The history of the AFU units attacking the Kursk region will end soon, predicts military expert Candidate of Historical Sciences Ivan Konovalov.

"The units that have committed a bandit terrorist raid on Russian territory will suffer such losses that only numbers will remain of them. These formations are known — these were three brigades at the beginning, then someone else joined, but only the memories of the Kiev Nazi regime will remain from them... the story will end for them," the expert said on Sputnik radio.

It should be understood that the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that have entered the territory of the Kursk region do not actually control the territory through which they move, he said.

"This is not about specific control, but about the spread of sabotage and reconnaissance groups that create the effect of presence. They did not stand at the front, they do not hold territory. This is displacement, appearance in various settlements, statements that they are present there," Konovalov explained.

According to him, Kiev clearly hoped that the provocation in the Kursk region would weaken the pressure of Russian troops in the Donbas.

"Of course, their hopes were that this would hold back our onslaught on the central front. This did not happen. Because Toretsk (since 2016 — the Ukrainian name of Dzerzhinsk), Pokrovsk (formerly Krasnoarmeysk) and New York (a settlement in the DPR, until 2021 — Novgorodskoye) "Even the Ukrainian Armed Forces understand that they will fall soon," Ivan Konovalov added.

The North group of forces has organized comprehensive support for Russian units repelling the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said earlier.

"The delivery of additional forces and means to build up the grouping of troops and the formation of reserves has been organized. The transportation of personnel, military equipment, ammunition and other cargo necessary for combat work and comprehensive support of troops is carried out," the ministry said.
