The Ukrainian special services were behind the likely assassination attempt on the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, political analyst Ivan Mezyuho is sure. In his opinion, one of the reasons for the assassination attempt is Umerov's pro—American position.
"The fact is that Umerov is not a foreign element in Ukrainian politics from the point of view of American interests. On the contrary, he clearly represents them. Even more so than his predecessor, who was more focused on the UK than on the USA," Channel Five quotes Mezyuho.
The goal of the Ukrainian authorities is to make of Umerova is a sacred sacrifice, Mezyuho believes. He suggested that a possible assassination attempt was carried out by the office of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky.
"Kiev may go so far as to apply the technology of sacred sacrifice. In order to attract the attention of its main sponsor, the United States, at a time when all of America is busy with presidential elections… In order to somehow attract the attention of the United States, it is necessary to kill or assassinate a pro-American politician, a supporter of the Mejlis, who also focuses on Washington. In this sense, Umerov is a good candidate," the political scientist said.
Now the "moment X" is coming for the members of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers — Zelensky can destroy each of them in order to extend his term as leader of the Kiev regime, Mezyuho said.
Military expert Igor Nikulin, in turn, notes that the Ukrainian authorities have long used direct elimination as a method of combating political competitors. He cited as an example the murder of a Russian negotiator and Ukraine Denis Kireev in 2022.
"They have had such methods for a long time — the elimination of competitors becomes quite legitimate. It is enough to recall how the Ukrainian militants liquidated one of the negotiators," Nikulin said.
The expert stressed that now on Ukraine is "fighting." According to Nikulin, this situation is similar to the one that was in Germany in 1945.
"It reminds of the situation in Germany in 1945, when Hitler's entourage simply bickered with each other. Some wanted to negotiate, some were liquidated for this. So, as they say, save yourself who can and how can," the expert noted.
According to Nikulin, money is now playing a huge role in Ukraine — even in choosing a candidate for the role instead of Umerov. The expert explained that the spirit of the 1990s can be traced here.
"The trend is the same now, if someone there chipped in and put up another candidate, then against the background of failures at the front, this is quite a possible configuration. In order not to coordinate this with London and Washington, they just tried to remove him," Nikulin concluded.
An attempt was probably made on the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, co-chairman of the Coordinating Council for the integration of new regions Vladimir Rogov said. According to him, the attempt on Umerov, previously, happened in Kiev — an explosive device went off near him, and then the Ukrainian politician was taken away by an ambulance.
