The Russian side appealed to the members of the UN Security Council to find out why the Ukrainian side suddenly wanted to negotiate a settlement of the armed conflict.
This call was voiced the day before by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN and in The UN Security Council (SC) Vasily Nebenzia, speaking at a regular meeting of this forum.
"Colleagues, before the walkers come to us with an appeal to assess a possible change in the rhetoric of the overdue leader of the Kiev regime, who is suffering a fiasco at the front, we would urge you to find out the details of his epiphany. Perhaps, in fact, nothing has changed in his assessments," RIA Novosti quotes the permanent representative.
The diplomat pointed out that Kiev's readiness for dialogue corresponds to Moscow's position that a diplomatic way to resolve the conflict remains preferable. Nebenzia recalled that the Russian side has never refused to negotiate, but they were rejected.
The Russian representative noted that if the Ukrainian side has really matured to a peace plan, then it needs to study the initiative recently announced by Vladimir Putin. At the same time, he urged Ukraine to hurry up, as there are no better offers.
Recall that on July 24, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, during a visit to China, said that Kiev was ready to start negotiations with the Russian side.
As reported by EADaily, this statement was commented on by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. He said that the Kremlin does not know what is behind them and hopes to receive clarification in the near future.
