As of July 18, 29,187 tons of apricots were exported from Armenia. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic in response to a written request from Sputnik Armenia.

Armenian apricots were exported to Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan and The United Arab Emirates. According to the operational information received from the regional administrations, as of July 15, about 64,531 tons of apricots were harvested in Armenia. Since the apricot harvest is still ongoing, the economic department found it difficult to provide comparative data.

Due to heavy rainfall (including hail), there were concerns that the apricot harvest, in particular, would be significantly lower compared to last year. Accordingly, exports will decrease. This forecast is actually confirmed. For comparison, as of August 1, 2023, 88,652 tons of apricots were exported, that is, three times the current volume of supplies to foreign markets.

In response to a request from the ministry, they also provided data on which fruit exports increased this year. As of July 18, the export of apples from Armenia amounted to 11,907 tons, which is about 8,100 tons more than on July 18, 2023.

As for the export of peaches and nectarines, as of July 18, it amounted to 625 tons, 83 tons or 15% more than last year.

Exports of strawberries and raspberries amounted to 1,186 tons, 101 tons or 9.3% more than in the same period last year.

In general, as of July 18, 2024, the volume of exports of fruits and berries from Armenia amounted to 48,891 tons, which is about 7,113 tons or 10% more than in the same period last year.

As EADaily reported, last month, Armenian experts questioned the data on apricot exports presented earlier by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic. At the same time, it was pointed out that this fruit is losing its position in the largest Russian market for itself.
