The delegations of the North Atlantic Alliance countries have agreed on the final text of the declaration of the anniversary summit of the bloc, which is currently taking place in Washington. This is reported by Reuters, citing a source in NATO.
"The allies have reached an agreement on the summit declaration," the agency reports, as quoted by TASS.
Now the text must be approved by the heads of the member countries of the alliance.
According to Reuters, the leaders of the bloc's states in the document will call on China to stop any material and political support for Russia. The agency, citing a source, claims that NATO countries will call Beijing in the declaration a "decisive accomplice" of the Russian Federation.
"The PRC has become a decisive factor in Russia's war against Ukraine through its so-called unlimited partnership and its large—scale support for the Russian military-industrial base," the text of the document says.
As noted by Reuters, the main problem of the current negotiations was the wording of the promise to Kiev to accept it into NATO — it should not contain specific deadlines. According to the agency, the final declaration will say that Ukraine is now "on an irreversible path to full Euro-Atlantic integration, including membership in NATO." Ukraine will be offered membership when all the countries of the bloc, without exception, express their support. An invitation will be sent to Kiev to join the alliance when "the relevant conditions are met."
