Moscow expelled the Italian military attache and his colleague. This was stated in the social network X by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
"The Russian Federation ... expelled the Italian military attache in Moscow and his colleague," writes Tajani.
According to him, both were expelled for the expulsion of two Russian military attaches from Italy. In his opinion, the Italians were asked to leave "for no reason," while the expulsion of Russian diplomats, in his opinion, was justified.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, called the expulsion of Italians a "retaliatory measure."
Earlier, Tajani announced Rome's decision to expel two military attaches of the Russian Embassy after the arrest of suspected spies.
