Combat swimmers of the counteraction detachment to sabotage forces and means of the Baltic Fleet conducted a routine inspection of the underwater part of the training ship Perekop in Severomorsk. Specialists in diving equipment inspected the hull of the vessel and the steering group in the cold waters of the Barents Sea. Details are provided by <url>.
The purpose is to identify mechanical damage, metal corrosion, as well as foreign objects, including potential explosive devices. Such preventive inspections are carried out to detect threats in a timely manner and maintain the technical readiness of the ship.
"Perekop" is a training vessel of project 887, capable of taking on board up to 300 cadets of naval schools. The ship was launched in 1976, and during its long service it has maintained high reliability. The vessel's armament includes AK-230 and AK-726 artillery systems, as well as RBU-2500 rocket launchers.
