SCO: Possible alliance of Al Qaeda and ISIS is new global threat

A possible alliance of the terror organizations ISIS and Al Qaeda (banned in Russia) is a new potential threat to security, Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) Yevgeniy Sysoyev has said.

“Forecasted threats, and this is a new element of the operative situation, a possibility of the Al Qaeda and ISIS joining their terror potential within a single network that can cover by its sleeping and active cells many countries of the world,” Sysoyev announced.

As EADaily reported, reports are coming from Central Asian countries bordering with Afghanistan that the numbers of Islamists units are increasing. On May 25, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev announced that the number of militants in northern Afghanistan now reaches 15,000-20,000.
