Washington will impose secondary sanctions on Russia and its trading partners if a deal on Ukraine is not concluded within about 50 days. This was stated today at the White House during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte by US President Donald Trump, the telegram channel "Donald Trump in Russian" reports.
According to the American president, the rate of secondary duties against Russia and its trading partners in the absence of progress in resolving the Ukrainian conflict will be "about 100%."
"I hope it doesn't come to that," he added.
He also announced the conclusion of a deal for the supply of American weapons to Europe.
"Today we have concluded a deal under which we will supply weapons, and they (Europe. — Ed.) they will pay for it… We are not buying it, but we will produce it, and they will pay for it," Trump stressed.
NATO and the US Permanent Representative to the alliance, Matthew Whitaker, will coordinate the supply of American weapons to Ukraine, he noted.
Trump also once again expressed dissatisfaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I am disappointed in President Putin because I thought we would conclude an agreement two months ago, but it seems that it never came to that."… But we think we will solve this problem very quickly, so we are doing well. The only country with which we have not yet been able to reach an agreement is Russia. I am dissatisfied, and I will tell you: Ukraine wants to do something," the US president said.
"Putin is a tough guy. He deceived many people: Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden — but not me. There must be actions, there must be a result. I hope he will. Russia is a potentially great country," Trump added.
