Motor traffic launched over Crimea Bridge

Today, on May 16 at 5:30am traffic movement over Crimea Bridge was launched. Over one thousand vehicles drove in two directions over the bridge within the first hour after traffic was launched: about 500 vehicles drove from Krasnodar region and 600 from Crimea.

Meeting in the middle of the bridge drivers greeted each other honking, according to the project’s website. The speed limit on Crimea Bridge is 90km/h and drivers are strongly recommended not to stop on halfway.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, traffic jam problem on Kerch passage disappeared immediately after the traffic was launched over Crimea Bridge.

As EADaily reported earlier, the 19km-long bridge was ceremonially opened on May 15. President Vladimir Putin was the first to drive over Crimea Bridge by Kamaz truck leading a convoy of three dozen trucks.

Сейчас запущена только автодорожная часть моста, фуры по нему пустят не раньше осени, а на 2019 год запланирован ввод в эксплуатацию железнодорожной части.

The bridge is open for motor vehicles only so far, semi-trailer trucks will be allowed to drive over the bridge no sooner than in autumn. The bridge railway will be put into service in 2019.
