The previously arrested associate professor of the Department of Arabic Philology of the Oriental Faculty of St. Petersburg University (SPbU) Mikhail Suvorov filed a letter of resignation from the educational institution.
The teacher was subjected to administrative arrest for 10 days for posting on his personal page on the social network the slogan of Ukrainian nationalists and attributes of the so-called Legion "Freedom of Russia"*.
The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the University by Vice-rector for Security Dmitry Gryaznov. He clarified that the administrative arrest was imposed on the associate professor on June 26 by the decision of the Primorsky District Court.
"In connection with the receipt of this information at St. Petersburg State University, officials are conducting official proceedings. On June 26, Suvorov filed a letter of resignation,"the statement said.
It is known from the materials of the judicial investigation that back in March 2022, Suvorov posted the slogan "Glory to Ukraine" and the attributes of the Legion "Freedom of Russia" on VKontakte*, which he later did not delete.
During the court session, the pro-Ukrainian teacher repented and pleaded guilty for not deleting posts on social networks, citing forgetfulness.
Earlier, EADaily reported that three local residents were detained in the Zaporozhye region, transferring funds to the Ukrainian special services and The Armed Forces of Ukraine.
