US president calling for death penalty for terrorist from Uzbekistan

Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old Uzbek immigrant suspected of mowing down eight people in NYC deserves capital punishment, President Donald Trump said today, on November 2.

“NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS (a terrorist group banned in Russia – EADaily’s note) flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. Should get death penalty,” Trump said in a tweet.

Earlier President Donald Trump said he was open to sending the attacker to the detention facility at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

"Would love to send the NYC terrorist to Guantanamo but statistically that process takes much longer than going through the Federal system…There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!" Trump posted in a series of tweets on Thursday morning.

As EADaily reported earlier, on October 31, the Uzbek migrant mowed down eight people and injured 15 with a rented truck driving along a Manhattan cycle path.
