TC "Two majors": The strike on the refinery in Omsk was predictable, but there are no questions to the General Staff?

A blow to the largest in Russia's refinery in Omsk was predicted last year, although it is located 2,500 km from the front line. The strike was carried out by upgraded FP-1 drones. This is the result of miscalculations of the structures responsible for the defense of the country, writes TC "Two Majors".

We believe that against this background, conversations and discussions about the involvement of the Kazakh territory and various saboteurs will begin again, but all this is just a search for an excuse, not a solution. Strikes on oil and gas facilities in Russia began back in 2024, and from that moment there was a lot of time to prepare, and not to dump everything on the "Spirit of Anchorage."

Someone will say: the problem is with the ammunition for the air defense system. But there are other means, such as, for example, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters or small aircraft, which can and should be adapted to intercept drones, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces do. There are nuances, but they are everywhere. And there are also a lot of problems with this method, but when the question arises about the protection of the largest refinery in In Russia, we believe that the sheepskin is worth the dressing.

Holes in the radar field are an issue that could also be solved sequentially. But since the beginning of deep-strike strikes on the Russian Federation, there has been no work on creating an ersatz AWACS (like installing the Irbis station on some Tu-214 from storage).

Against the background of the fuel crisis (which will obviously worsen with a blow to the largest refinery) in the official and public field, you can often hear questions to anyone — from local and federal authorities to gas station networks and businesses, which, in the understanding of some people, must also protect itself.

And this is surprising, but there are no such questions addressed to the leadership of the Ministry of Defense or the General Staff, although it is these structures that are responsible for the country's defense, the authors of the TC "Two Majors" emphasize. This clearly explains many of the processes currently taking place in the fuel (and not only) market.
