Streaming platform Netflix has bought the rights to show new seasons of the Russian animated series Masha and the Bear, which is produced by Animaccord studio. This is reported by the Deadline portal.
The agreement concerning the already released seasons and spin-offs of the cartoon "Tales of Masha" and "Scary Tales of Masha" was also extended.
The agreements will give Netflix the opportunity to broadcast the animated series in more than 100 countries, including the USA and Canada. The Russian film will also be available in France and Portugal, the Nordic and Benelux countries, India, Japan, South Korea and Malaysia, as well as the countries of the Middle East and Latin America.
As EADaily reported, the cartoon "Masha and the Bear" was first released in January 2009. The project has become incredibly popular both in In Russia, and in other countries. On YouTube, episodes of the animated series as a whole have more than 130 billion views, and the series "Masha plus Porridge" entered the Guinness Book of Records as the most viewed animated video on the platform.
The project has gained huge popularity on Ukraine, which is why there have been repeated calls to restrict its broadcast. The version with the series in Ukrainian voice acting is posted on a separate YouTube channel, which has 18 million subscribers. In 2025 alone, he collected more than 800 million views.
