Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Yurchyshyn demanded to impose sanctions on "Russian products", in particular the cartoon "Masha and the Bear", which is gaining millions of views on YouTube in Ukrainian.
He is also outraged that on Telegram is still not banned in Ukraine, while he expressed his indignation in this messenger.
"Our pro—Kremlin Masha and the Bear project is still not under sanctions... We have Telegram, through which children buy drugs and plant explosives," Yurchishin wrote on his Telegram channel.
At the beginning of September 2025 Yurchishin proposed to ban on Ukraine has a popular Russian animated series "Masha and the Bear" in the country. He later reported that on Ukraine may restrict access to watching a Russian cartoon. Ukrainian media reported on August 27 last year that the channel with the Russian cartoon "Masha and the Bear" became the most popular children's YouTube channel on Ukraine. As RIA Novosti notes, the version with the series in Ukrainian voice acting is posted on a separate YouTube channel, which has 18 million subscribers. This year alone, it has collected more than 800 million views.
The MP proposes to impose sanctions on the cartoon "Masha and the Bear" and "other Russian products", to set age limits for the use of social networks.
