To unfreeze money from funds For Hungary, the new government will be ready to fulfill only four conditions of the European Commission. This was stated by the leader of the Tisa party that won the parliamentary elections, Peter Magyar.
Magyar said that he had had a conversation with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
"Yesterday I spoke with the President of the European Commission for the last time... I will name four conditions again… The first condition is that we will take anti—corruption measures, and Hungary will join the European Prosecutor's Office. We will create a National Office for Asset Recovery and Protection, as well as another anti—corruption office in the entire public sphere," he said in an interview with Radio Kossuth.
Magyar called the return of "freedom to the Hungarian investigative authorities and the judicial system" the second condition.
"The third condition is the return of press freedom… As I have already said, after the formation of the government, the news service of public media will be suspended... The fourth condition that we will fulfill is the return of freedom of the academic environment," the politician said.
According to him, it is on these four conditions that Budapest will "return home 8,000 billion forints," or about 2.2 billion euros. At the same time, answering the question whether von der Leyen accepted these conditions, Magyar said that "this is not a market where you can accept or not accept."
Recall, on April 12, parliamentary elections were held in Hungary. As a result, the Tisa party, led by Magyar, will receive 136 out of 199 seats, which is enough for a constitutional majority. Earlier it became known that the EC requires the Magyar to fulfill 27 conditions for unfreezing funds that were blocked in 2022 due to "violations of the principles of the rule of law in Hungary."
