Kiev records Russia's attempts to draw Belarus into the conflict on Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, after a meeting with the heads of the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
Zelensky claims that he has information that additional contacts took place between the Russian leadership and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in order to convince him to "join new Russian aggressive operations."
"In particular, Russia is considering plans for operations in the directions to the south and north of the territory of Belarus — either against the Chernigov-Kiev direction to Ukraine, or against one of the NATO countries — from the territory of Belarus. Ukraine knows the details of the conversation between Russia and Belarus. Ukraine will certainly defend itself and its people if Alexander Lukashenko makes a mistake and decides to support this Russian intention as well," he said.
Zelensky added that he "instructed the Defense and Security Forces of Ukraine to strengthen this direction and submit a response plan for possible aggression." The task was also set to develop and submit a response plan, which will be reviewed and approved in the near future.
Recall that Belarus does not participate in the Russian SMO, but in Minsk always emphasizes that they do not plan to do this. Despite this from Kiev periodically hears accusations against Lukashenka that he is preparing for an attack. On May 2, Zelensky stated that "specific activity" had been noticed from Belarus near the border with Ukraine.
