Belarus has always advocated good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with Lithuania. This was stated by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic Ruslan Varankov.
A representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry commented on the statement by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kastutis Budris that he dreams of excellent relations with Belarus after all issues are resolved.
"We welcome such a statement. Belarus has always advocated good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations with Lithuania and shares the desire to normalize them. For our part, we confirm our full readiness for a constructive dialogue. As it became known earlier from the media, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has appointed a representative to interact with Minsk. We expect communication on this line," he said.
Varankov also stressed that Minsk expects that "by joint efforts we will be able to bring bilateral relations to the level that Mr. Budris spoke about."
Earlier, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Budris told ONT TV channel that he dreams of establishing relations with Belarus.
"I want to have established contacts with Belarus. This is my dream, really. Without unnecessary threats. I really hope that one day we will have a great relationship after we solve all the issues," he said.
