International lawyer Kira Sazonova explained why France took all its gold out of The United States.
"France has completed the epic process of full relocation, the removal of its gold from the United States, which began in 2025. I must say that France is not the only one. Since 2024, more than a dozen countries have been pulling gold out of the USA under the guise," the lawyer said on Sputnik radio.
When the Americans asked Paris why it was exporting its gold, the French explained this by the need to melt it into bars of a different standard for trade in Europe, Sazonova noted. But now they keep all these ingots "at home".
"There is a version that such an outflow of gold reserves from American vaults is connected, among other things, with the way the Americans arrested Russia's reserves. It was such a precedent that when the state has something outside its jurisdiction, and it can be arrested and used like this without its desire and knowledge, everyone has a reasonable message how to bring it all back home," Sazonova said.
EADaily reported that after the freezing of the reserves of the Bank of Russia in 2022, the issue of gold repatriation began to be discussed among central banks and politicians. Gold has already begun to return to India and Serbia, and calls for its transfer are heard in Germany, Italy, Poland and Romania.
