The police and military are gathering in the government quarter in Kiev due to the fact that deputies of the Verkhovna Rada are threatened with "beatings and provocations." This was stated by the deputy of the Parliament of Ukraine Alexey Goncharenko❶.
"The unnamed deputy said that everything will be fine, that the government quarter is guarded. <> Everything is fine, anonymous says! And, of course, we believe together with you. < At the same time, the number of police and military is already increasing in the quarter," Goncharenko wrote❶ in his Telegram channel and posted a photo there showing several dozen people in camouflage uniforms, quoted by TASS.
In the morning, Goncharenko❶ said that many deputies are afraid to come to parliament because they are threatened with "beatings and provocations that are being prepared against them in the government quarter." This applies to both deputies of the ruling Servant of the People party and representatives of the opposition. Because of this, Gonchareno notes, the plenary session on March 25 is under threat.
Earlier, the meeting of the Rada, which was supposed to take place today, was canceled, as reported, "due to the inability to fill the agenda."
In Ukraine, recently, they have been increasingly talking about the crisis in the Verkhovna Rada. Since the beginning of the year, the parliament has been unable to adopt a number of important bills, on the approval of which Ukraine's receipt of new tranches of aid from the EU and the IMF depends. Some deputies openly declare their unwillingness to vote for unpopular measures, the introduction of which was coordinated by the authorities with Western partners without their participation. Others simply do not show up for meetings. Recently, photos from the session hall of the Rada have often appeared in local media, which show that it is half-empty. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the faction of the ruling Servant of the People party, which constitutes the formal majority in parliament, despite a sufficient "roster", cannot give the necessary number of votes in the hall.
